Online workshop 23-24 March 2022
Surveillance is the continuous, systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of data needed for action such as the planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions to mitigate antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Reliable surveillance data describing trends in AMR as well as in antimicrobial consumption (AMC) and antimicrobial use (AMU) are key indicators in managing AMR; locally, nationally, regionally, and on a global level.
Harmonised surveillance within and between the human, animal, and environmental sectors requires alignment of methods for data collection and analysis. The systems, technologies, and analytical approaches need to be tailored to address current imperatives, but ideally also flexible and resilient in order to accommodate future developments.
Research and innovation have important roles in supporting integrated, multi-sectoral AMR and AMC/AMU surveillance on the global, regional, national and local level that will help address both the AMR challenges that we see today, and those of tomorrow.
This interactive online workshop with key stakeholders focuses on:
- Identifying the main challenges and opportunities for interlinked, integrated, multi-sectoral One Health AMR & AMU/AMC surveillance at the global, regional, national and local levels.
- Identifying innovative and/or alternative approaches in surveillance that integrate and triangulate AMR and AMC/AMU data to inform policy and practice interventions.
- Gathering information on gaps and priorities that are needed for the update of the JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.
- Exploring and analysing the potential and advantages of collaboration in surveillance for the future One Health AMR partnership.
The workshop is organised by JPIAMR in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Health.
JPIAMR is in the process of updating the JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, contributing to the development of the candidate One Health AMR Partnership. This activity will support this process by allowing us to collect gaps and needs in the area of surveillance. The workshop is supported by the “CSA DESIGN OH AMR.”
