Workshop 9 December 2021, 12.00-16.00 CET
The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the use of wastewater surveillance as an early warning system for disease outbreaks. However, wastewater surveillance programs can also be used to monitor other pathogens to prevent outbreaks and the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This workshop organised by JPIAMR in collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council focuses on African perspectives and research on this theme.
The main goals of the workshop are:
- To showcase African wastewater surveillance research with focus on prevention and spread of pathogens and AMR.
- To share existing knowledge and experiences between researchers in Europe and Africa.
- To increase awareness of current wastewater monitoring programs and build networks for future research in wastewater-based surveillance.
