Dr. Andreas Aeschlimann received his MSc in Food Sciences and Technology from ETH Zurich and his PhD in Biotechnical Sciences from EPFL Lausanne. After a postdoc at the University of California Berkeley, USA he earned significant industry experience with Galactina AG and Novartis Nutrition Research AG. In 2001 he joined the former Institute of Dairy Sciences of Agroscope in Switzerland as Head of the Microbiology Unit. As a holder of an Executive MBA in Management of Technology from Unil-EPFL and National Secretary of the International Dairy Federation IDF he has a special focus on microbial fermentation in food and nutrition including health, safety and environmental aspects. JPI experience: He is a delegate by the Swiss National Science Foundation to the MBs of the three JPIs AMR, HDHL and FACCE since 2010 and a member of the JPIAMR SC for a second term. As first author of the lead proposal for the actual Swiss National Research Programme on Antimicrobial Resistance he achieved that finally Switzerland can participate in Joint Calls. On a European level he contributed as the local organizer of the first Joint Meeting of the JPIAMR MB, SAB and SHAB at Geneva in 2013 and subsequently to the implementation of JPIAMR.
